Schools

There are a huge number of fun ways that schools can get involved in the global fight against hunger, while learning about the issue surrounding hunger and malnutrition.

Why not…?

  • Organise a non-uniform (‘mufti’), fancy dress or back-to-front day- where students and teachers give a donation to wear these clothes for the day
  • Take part in a sponsored event such as a 24 hour silence, run, walk, haircut, cycle-ride, swim, run in fancy dress, day of eating healthily, giving up smoking etc
  • Hold a cake day or tuck sale
  • Do something to recognise UN ‘Iternational’ Days or special days such as Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day or Pancake Day
  • Arrange a charity day in the summer term- organise activities such as penalty shoot-outs, bouncy castles, food and drink stands, competitions, face-painting, five-a-side football, games, sports-events, quizzes, relays, teacher/pupil position auction, tug-of-war, welly-throwing competition, wheelbarrow races, and slave/teacher auctions which all raise funds for charity
  • Organise a concert/play/music evening/ fashion show/school disco/talent competition
  • Make Action Against Hunger your ‘charity of the year’
  • Get your school participate in the ‘Run Against Hunger’. For more information, please click here.

Or perhaps you can think of any other fundraising ideas?

School Resources

We offer a number of school resources and materials suitable for a range of ages.  These include posters, maps, story books, portraits, laminated pictures, crosswords, quizzes etc.

Our movie on Burundi is suitable for children of all ages and gives a real insight into Action Against Hunger’s work in Burundi. The DVD focuses on the running of our therapeutic feeding centres, water and sanitation, nutrition, food security and health programmes in the Burundi, one of the poorest countries worldwide.

We also have all this and more in French- perfect for French classes!
