Restaurants Against Hunger organises official after-Show party for
The Restaurant Show – 18 September 2006 (6pm – 10.30pm)
15 August 2006 - Action Against Hunger’s Restaurants Against Hunger campaign will once again be exhibiting at this year’s Restaurant Show at London’s Olympia from 18 to 20 September. The charity will be hosting the Show’s official after-party, titled ‘Foodie Fashion’, in time with London Fashion Week.
Action Against Hunger is proud to present the Restaurant Show’s first ever official after-Show charity party. On the evening of Monday 18 September, Olympia’s Apex Room will see some of the UK’s top players in the food and drink industry alongside some top names in the fashion industry.
Top chefs such as Shane Osborn, Antony Worrall Thompson, Marco Pierre White, Daniel Clifford, Mickael Weiss, Aldo Zilli as well as established designers and artists including Issa, Beatrix Ong, Phillip Lim, Daisy de Villeneuve, Sara Berman have been asked to express their artistic flair to customise blank chef jackets. Chefs’ whites won’t stay ‘white’ very long once the artists have expressed their creative dexterity on these blank canvases. The jazzed up jackets (provided courtesy of Denny’s) will be modelled in a catwalk show on Monday evening when delicious food, wine and cocktails will also be served. The jackets and other fabulous designer contributions (from Zandra Rhodes, Georgina Goodman, Juicy Couture, Mawi and Gharani Strok) will be auctioned/raffled to raise much needed funds for Action Against Hunger’s life-saving work around the world.
This party will prove to be the ultimate alternative fashion show for this autumn’s Fashion Week. Tickets for the party, which will take place from 6pm to 10.30pm, are on sale now at the cost of £50 (group booking discounts available). Book now to avoid disappointment.
Restaurants Against Hunger is a year-round campaign dedicated to food lovers. Restaurants can get involved whenever is suitable for them, during limited periods of their choice. October will be Restaurants Against Hunger’s ‘Eat Out. Fight Hunger’ month. Participating restaurants invite their customers to make an optional donation when they pay the bill, organise their own special events or give part of the takings made from selected dishes. Last year, £43,000 was raised in just a week.
All funds raised from Restaurants Against Hunger go directly to Action Against Hunger, which helps vulnerable populations all around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves. Every pound raised goes to support the charity’s programmes in over 40 countries including Lebanon and the Gaza region, Niger, Sudan, Malawi, Zambia, Guatemala, Cambodia, Mongolia and Nepal.
