August 2007 - World exploration can open your eyes to many things, not least the diverse and delicious range of cultural cuisines on offer. This September, you can enjoy a unique gastronomic event dedicated to cuisines from across the globe whilst also raising money for a worthwhile cause.

On 22nd September, inspired by Jules Vernes’ classic novel, local villagers Diane & Alan Drummond and TV presenter Nick Knowles will host charity event, Around the World in 80 Days, a gourmet dinner featuring dishes from around the world prepared by some of the UK’s top chef’s, including Mickael Weiss from London’s Coq d’Argent.

The glittering black-tie event will take place in a special ‘world travel’ themed marquee at Oaktree Farm, in Lockerley, Romsey which has been generously donated by Alan and Diane Drummond, who have lived in the village for over 25 years.  Guests who attend will be greeted by a Champagne Taittinger reception before embarking on a delicious three-course supper, with each course representing a different country from across the globe. After dinner, revellers will enjoy live jazz music as well as an acoustic set from Nick and John Knowles.

The evening will culminate in an exclusive charity auction where guests will have the opportunity to bid for fabulous prizes including a golfing holiday for six people at the prestigious Aphrodite Hills Golf Resort in Cyprus and a celebrity signed cricket shirt.

Every penny raised at the event will go directly to Action Against Hunger which helps vulnerable populations around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves. The charity’s international fieldworkers and local teams work in 43 countries on five continents helping millions of people every year.

Tickets to this unique event cost £75 and include a Champagne Taittinger reception, a delicious gourmet banquet, complimentary wine and beer throughout, live music and dancing and a charity auction. The event begins at 7pm. Table bookings for 10 and 12 people are recommended.
