Information evening
ACF-UK
Since its creation in 1995, ACF-
UK has played a major role in ACF International Network's worldwide fight
against hunger.
One of the first humanitarian organisations
present on the ground, ACF-UK orchestrated relief operations in Macedonia
and during the Kosovo crisis, helping hundreds
of thousands of people. It also responded to
the Southern Africa crisis, opening relief programmes
in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia and developing
worldwide expertise in the impact of AIDS on
nutrition in collaboration with the Institute
of Child Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Over the last 10 years, ACF-UK has carried out programmes in Cameroon, Tajikistan,
Cambodia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Malawi, Zimbabwe,
and Zambia.
ACF-UK has transferred the management of its missions to other headquarters at the end of 2004. This followed the decision of the ACF International Network (ACF-IN) to strengthen its capacities and its impact by increasing complementary activities between headquarters towards a more cost effective and efficient network.
As a consequence ACF-UK has developed and reinforced activities such as internal evaluations/assessments/audit of programmes for Action Against Hunger's international network, working with local partners (NGOs, women groups, community groups), creating a specific fund for emergencies and forgotten crisis, initiating the Hunger Watch project, supporting research and activities/policies on nutrition and HIV/AIDS and recruiting qualified expatriates to work in our missions to complement the operational work of the network.
