  • The war has claimed around 200,000 lives.
  • Almost a million Liberians out of a total population of 2.4 million have been displaced to another part of the country or are living as refugees in neighbouring countries.
  • It is estimated that there are around 700,000 refugees in neighbouring countries and 450,000 internally displaced people.
  • Unemployment is around 85%, i.e. it affects most people.
  • Reconstruction implies setting up basic services like water and electricity, sanitation, education and health, provision of food, adequate salaries and slashing current unemployment rates.
